World Youth Day has proven to be the largest single, international mobilisation of young people the world has ever seen. In size and scale WYD is a major international youth event that, on major celebration days, far exceeds an Olympic Games or Rugby World Cup for the host city. In Cologne, Germany, host of the last international WYD in 2005, over 1.2 million people attended the Final Mass. WYD attracts pilgrims from some 200 nations (along with thousands of international journalists).

WYD08 will also mark the inaugural visit to Australia by the new pontiff, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI.

Becoming a WYD08 Corporate Affiliate

Becoming an official corporate affiliate of WYD08 clearly transcends traditional commercial sponsorship arrangements. While WYD offers obvious and significant commercial opportunities for corporate affiliates there is also strong recognition of the unique and highly religious importance of the event itself.

All business involvement is carefully considered not only for its ability to meet the needs of WYD08, but also the overall balance and harmony with the celebration itself.

An official WYD08 corporate affiliate is one of a limited number of organisations identified for their unique contribution of products, services or financial assistance (or a combination of these). WYD marketing rights and/or other benefits for each partner will be commensurate with their level of assistance.

WYD08 Corporate Affiliates have access to a variety of intellectual property rights including official WYD08 logos and trademarks, authenticating statements and designations.

Any organisation wishing to lodge an initial expression of interest should adhere to the guidelines below and familiarise themselves with the WYD08 Code of Ethics .

We ask that submissions be kept to 2 pages and simply indicate:

• Nature of your current business
• Key contact details
• Reasons for your interest in becoming a WYD08 Corporate Affiliates
• Experience in the supply of goods and/or services to major religious, cultural, art or sporting events

All corporate affiliates will be asked to confirm their compliance with our WYD08 Code of Ethics .

Becoming a WYD08 Supplier

As you would expect, given the nature, size and scope of this event World Youth Day 2008 have already received a significant volume of proposals and various other expressions of interest for involvement with the event.

We wish to advise that WYD08 have finalised submissions for suppliers of all goods/and or services to the event.
