Egeria was a nun who went on a pilgrimage from the Rhone Valley in France to the Holy Land during the 4th century. She was the first pilgrim to record her journey, and as such, the WYD08 registration system which will record your journey, is named after her.
Registration Process
If you want to participate in WYD08, you need to officially register through the Egeria system. Only those who have registered will have priority access to WYD08 venues during the week, and get the full pilgrim experience. You will need to join a group, which is generally led by your parish, diocese, priest or youth group.
All registrants must be individually identified and attached to a group. The categories for registration are Group Leader, Pilgrim, Clergy, Religious or Volunteer.
Applications for visas are included in the registration system and will be automatically processed by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship. Pilgrims coming to Australia are encouraged to register as early as possible to allow processing of entry visas.
